Along with the rest of the world, we have been closely watching and feeling the impacts of COVID-19. Stress and emotions are running high, and at times like this, we like to go back to the data. We have distilled the situation here in the United States down to simple metrics outlining the impacts of coronavirus by state for daily monitoring.
We created this Power BI report using an API data connection from COVID19 Tracker. This project collects information from the 50 US states, the District of Columbia, and 5 other US territories. The United States data includes positive, negative and pending test results, as well as, deaths.
*States update their data independently so there may be some latency between public statements and this report.
The international data is accumulated from the Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering (JHU CCSE) from various international sources including the World Health Organization (WHO), China CDC (CCDC), Hong Kong Department of Health, Macau Government, Taiwan CDC, US CDC, Government of Canada, Australia Government Department of Health, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Ministry of Health Singapore (MOH) and more. The metrics in the international data includes positive cases, recoveries and deaths.
The visuals below can be sorted by individual state or countries from the “Choose” dropdown menus on the top left of each tab or by clicking on the map. The rest of the visuals will follow suit and filter to the given choice. The table can be sorted by any column to the see the daily changes in each of the respective metrics.
We hope this data gives people a clearer sense of what’s going on and how the situation is evolving.
Based on the seriousness of the situation, we have canceled public trainings, work travel and our Power BI User Group meeting for the month of March. Additionally, we have encouraged all employees to work from home to limit their risk of exposure and carrying the virus.
