Combining Conflicting Customer Names Using Power Query

Stay up to date with the latest customer data news, expert guidance, and resources.

What is that customer’s name? Well, there are actually 3 of them. Maybe some of them are informal variations on a longer name (“Robert” becomes “Bob”), others might be from typos when the data was entered. Either way, you have to take a list of conflicting names for a customer and squeeze them into a single cell so you can see/search-for each and every version within your data. In this video Brian Grant will walk you through how you can leverage some more advanced features of the Power Query M language to achieve exactly that. He’ll show you both a longer method to help you understand the concepts and a shorter/faster method for when you want to get to the results you need quickly.
